On 11 March, to mark No Smoking Day, Clapham Park Project will be teaming up with Phillips Chemist to offer local residents stop smoking advice and support as well as a general health MOT.

The event, which will be held at the Weir Link Centre on Weir Road, is aimed at helping smokers who would like to quit and anyone in the community interested in getting a basic health check.

Smokers will be given a personal assessment and tests to measure their lung age and CO readings. If they decide to go further, they will be enrolled on a four-week, one-to-one stop smoking programme, which is provided free of charge.

The health MOT will comprise a range of checks, including blood pressure, body and visceral fat, and weight and height measurements. There will also be nutritional information, tips on weight management and healthy eating, and an aerobics taster session.

Clapham Park Project and Phillips Chemist hope that the event will give smokers the support they need to quit and encourage other residents to lead a healthier lifestyle.
