Neighbourhood Forum Update
Image

Over 40 residents attended the Clapham Park Neighbourhood Forum meeting on the 11th March to hear Clapham Park Homes (CPH) & Lambeth Council’s proposals to implement Controlled Parking Zones (CPZ) on the estate and selected streets on the border of the New Deal for Communities area.

Whilst most residents agreed that parking is a huge problem, they made it clear that the introduction of a CPZ scheme where residents would be asked to pay would not tackle the problem.

Concerns were also raised about the cost of the resident permit i.e. £60-100 per year, how the scheme will be enforced and the unrealistic timescale to consult and implement the scheme by July 2010.

The Centre is estimated to cost £1.8 million to complete: Clapham Park Project donated £1 million to the build and Lambeth Council donated a further £500,000.

The Clapham Park Centre will be available for all members of the community, not just the pupils and parents of Richard Atkins.
