To mark the end of the NDC, freelance writer, Fiona Madden was commissioned to write a book about the lifetime of the Clapham Park Project. Scheduled to be completed in late 2011, the book will tell the story of how a small number of local residents were able to put Clapham Park back on the map and give hope to a community that had long been forgotten about.
Focusing on key dates throughout the life of the New Deal for Communities programme, the book which is geared to residents and academics alike will also include interviews from individuals who played a huge part in our success, never-before-seen documentation, press excerpts, statistics and poignant images. Chief Executive Angus Johnson said, ‘Many NDC’s produced an evaluation at the end of the ten years but I really didn’t want to compile a dry manuscript that would just sit on someone’s shelf collecting dust. I wanted a timeless piece that can be treasured and exist as a small keepsake of CPP NDC history-I think the book will do this beautifully.’ We will be launching the book towards the end of 2011, but if you just can’t wait until then, check back here very soon for a link to the prologue.
