Clapham Park Expo

4th December 2010 11am – 4pm

The theme is ‘Connecting Communities’. Residents will be encouraged to visit all sites, if they’re interested in a range of activities. They will be entered into a prize draw if they visit one or more sites and give their contact details. A key outcome from the event will be to develop interest in and membership of the Clapham Park Neighbourhood Forum.

Venues and activities

Clapham Park Centre

Kingswood Road (off New Park Road)

London SW2 4JP (new £1.7m building) market place and some entertainments – visitors likely to be families of primary school age children as it’s linked to Richard Atkins primary school

 

The Clapham Park Centre will host:

The Weir Link Childrens’ and Community Centre

33 Weir Road

London SW12 0NU (market place and range of craft-based activities, audience likely to be families of 0-5s as TWL is a childrens’ centre)

The Community Resource Centre

Clapham Park Homes is hosting ‘The Housing Hub’ (Meet Your Landlord) with input from

  • Clapham Park Homes – will be running sessions aimed at giving residents the opportunity to get more involved in the how their estate is run
  • Lambeth Living
  • High Trees Community Development Trust - Apps for Good (an innovative programme that gives young people the opportunity to design mobile phone applications)
  • Family Mosaic
  • Christmas Card Making
  • Food will also be available at this venue
  • Thornton Safer Neighbourhoods Team (part of the day)

 

Agnes Riley Gardens

Atkins Road

London SWS12 0AH (the only outdoor event but we have use of the one o clock club to serve some hot refreshments)

The following activities will be taking place in the park

  • Formal opening of the pond by Lambeth Mayor at 2pm
  • Meet the Friends of Agnes Riley Gardens
  • Plant flowers in a window box and take it home with you
  • Hot soup available in the one o clock club
  • Find out about opportunities to get involved in local gardening projects
  • Thornton Safer Neighbourhood Team (part of the day)

Knights Youth Centre

27 Streatham Place

London SW2 4QQ (primarily aimed at 11-25 year olds)

Knights Youth Centre will be hosting:

  • Football Tournaments (transferred from Roupell Park & Agnes Riley Gardens)
  • Games (transfer from Agnes Riley Gardens)
  • Professional photo shoot (15 minute sessions) throughout the day
  • Video diaries
  • Graffiti workshops– design a mini mural (1 hour session) throughout the day
  • Professional Massages from 11.30 – 3.00 (15 minute sessions)
  • Urban Art
  • Make over – nails and facials (up to 30 minutes each) throughout the day
  • Video profile/story  – from 12.00 – 4.00pm (20 minute sessions)
  • Christmas art workshop – ongoing session throughout the day
  • Food and drink (small charge may be applied)
  • Games – ongoing throughout the day (depending on numbers)
  • ‘If you could change one thing about where you live’ (map based consultation)
