- The percentage of residents who are economically inactive has increased from 37% in 2004 to 41% in 2006. This is lower than the NDC average of 47%.
- Compared to 2004, more residents who are not working have enjoyed paid employment in the past, from 58% in 2004 to 66% in 2006). Our figure is lower than the NDC average (72% 2006).
- Compared to 2004 less young people were unemployed, from 12% in 2004 to 6% in 2006.
- Compared to 2004, more residents were looking for work in the past four weeks in 2004 (from 8% to 15% in 2006). This figure is slightly higher than NDC average (15% 2006).
- Compared to 2004, the same numbers of residents in 2006 are receiving state benefits (54%).
