Contruction Training Scheme

The Construction Training Scheme has been designed to support residents to gain employment within the construction industry. The programme will support adult trainees through college to achieve a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 and provide the work experience that will allow them to acquire the experience needed to secure employment. For experienced construction workers without qualifications, the scheme will provide opportunities for them to obtain on site skills, assessment and accreditation based upon projects they have completed. The Scheme will support local construction traders by increasing their knowledge and understanding of the procurement procedures for securing sub contracts and providing general business advice. This initiative will equip residents with the necessary skills to take advantage of the employment opportunities created by the redevelopment of the Clapham Park area.

Estate Redevelopment Programme

Where: Throughout Clapham Park

Contact: Keith Evans
Tel: 020 8623 8900

Estate Redevelopment

This is CPP's most significant project both in terms of its scope and magnitude and its NDC Budget allocation of £21 million. It will kick start the re-development of all the former council
housing stock and begin the process of creating a revitalised neighbourhood in the heart of Clapham Park. It will be the manifestation of local resident’s vision and aspirations, which was captured in the CPP Master Plan. In June 2006, following a successful stock transfer, Clapham Park Homes became the new landlord of the Clapham Park estate. They will take forward this major regeneration programme which will ensure that residents can enjoy good quality, well managed and maintained homes at affordable rents. The scheme will see a revitalised neighbourhood come into being with new parks, a range of community facilities including a library, health centre and gym, better transport links, more choice of shops, cleaner and safer streets, decent services and more local jobs - in short, a place to be proud of.

Neighbourhood Management

When: Monday - Friday

Where: 1-4 Brixton Hill Place, SW2 1HJ

Contact: Patricia Poorman
Tel: 020 8678 5933

Neighbourhood Management

The project provides the opportunity for local residents to shape and hold public services to account, thus improving the services coordination and performance for the community. The project aims to develop active citizens who are able to influence the way in which local services are designed and delivered within their neighbourhood and participate in local decision making structures. A Neighbourhood Forum has been set up which gives residents the opportunity to voice their views on specific issues affecting their local neighbourhood. Meetings are held quarterly and training will be provided for residents who are involved in the Neighbourhood Forum to provide them with the relevant skills to play a role in driving up service standards and contribute to developing a sense of community and place. The Forum is also intended to assist CPP, CPH and partners to improve service delivery within the context of Best Value and provide a more efficient, transparent and accountable decision making process at a neighbourhood level.
